The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll confirms the results of the NYT/CBS poll finding 76 percent of Americans in support of a public option to compete with private insurance.

While these two polls were not conducted to measure support for single-payer, they do indicate that the public overwhelmingly favors more government intervention and control in health care.  Previous polls consistently show that the majority of Americans support national health insurance, including 59 percent of physicians.
