A man from Spring Valley, NY recorded a short YouTube video for President Obama’s health care town hall and was the first question chosen.

“Hi. My name is Steve White. I’m in Spring Valley, New York, and my question for the president is: Why are we considering a health care plan that maintains the private insurance companies with their high overhead costs, instead of a single-payer system that would eliminate the high overhead costs, saving hundreds of millions of dollars?”

Obama called the question “terrific,” but in his answer, he said that the single-payer system would not be the way to go.

In response to White’s question, Obama said it could be “hugely disruptive” to replace the current system with a government-paid plan.
